OK Games Workshop marketing bods, listen up. This - not this - is how a promotional video is done.
And there's more great news: to find out how, all you have to do is walk across the shop and talk to whoever produced this cracking video for Forge World. Hosted by the very personable and well-spoken Tony Cottrell (also an ace designer at FW), this video promotes the new Proteus Land Raider and Deimos-Pattern Rhino models from GW's Forge World division. Note how Tony explains the rich history of the original designs and how this history informs the new sculpts. Some prototypes are shown off, as well as excellent 360-degree views of unfinished and finished versions of the models.
Yes, we're well aware from watching the video that we're being sold something. But the video treats its audience like adults and enthusiasts, not like

Ray is a spastic child but yes you're right, nice one Dallas!
I'm surprised "Servitor 13" let this video slip out...Tony has probably already been re-processed into Fang Grey food pellets for Space Wolf recruits....
Very cool video, thanks for posting. Had I known how rare the original land raiders were I might not have turned mine into a terrain feature!
The Angry Lurker needs to grow up. Also, have you seen the Empire trailer that GW released today? I guess you won't post about it, since its actually a really well done video. Oh well, haters gonna hate.
I hadn't seen that video, Ian, thanks for letting us know about it. Unfortunately I watched it and while it is better than "145", I'm afraid it's still rubbish. No pictures of models or any real information, just a cod (and obviously electronically manipulated) voice-over about "walls of flesh" (ugh) and Bestial Fury.
Are there new models coming? Will there be a new army book? Would've been worthwhile if they'd even thrown in a peek at some new stuff, but no... just some scrolling text over a piece of artwork. Oh, and some screaming/battle SFX.
I'm struggling to comprehend how my comments in the post above could be considered "hating", but as always, thanks for the comments :-)
"But the video treats its audience like adults and enthusiasts, not like spastic children."
That's because Forge World actually is for adults. GW is going for "edgy and viral", Forge World is going for the older and more nostalgic player with deeper pockets.
I agree, good video, it could almost get me to buy a GW related product, almost, Forge world is the best thing about GW nowadays, but very expensive.
I did a whole post on this very subject the other day...and I say again, you can love something and not agree with everythng it does. Feeling like your being talked down to is the hallmark of the main GW marketing at the moment. It is condescending. This does not mean I hate GW, but that I hate the current marketing.
Thanks for that. I had seen the video already, but it's nice to be reminded again. I have a fair number of FW pieces in my Eldar force; I really like their designs.
I plan on making my original Land Raider Mk. I (thanks, Greg!) into a Proteus for my Crimson Fists.
Bloody hell -- I'm so glad you posted that. I've wanted a Mk 1 Land Raider since 1988. :-) I'm so glad Forge World....oh. It's 80 pounds. That's 3 times what a Mk 1 goes for on eBay. Dang.
